Teams discover Mylapore
About 65 teams of 200 people went around the roads and lanes of Mylapore this morning.
The 'Discover Mylapore' event flagged off at the Chess Square in the Nageswara Rao Park took the teams to the east and south ends of Mylapore.
The strategies were worked out by the teams after they received the briefing and the clue-sheet from Vincent D'Souza.
School kids, college students, office goers and retired senior citizens teams up for this event.
Some went on by foot, a few bicycled, some more biked and a few had smart drivers in their cars!
It wasn't a race. But there was a time limit to drop the answer sheets at the start point.
The teams started arriving with the answers from 8.45 am. Discussed clues, exchanged the experiences of the trip over a cup of hot coffee.
If you have taken part in this event, do share us your experience here.
Did you really visit all the places given in the clue sheet?
And any place you visited for the first time?
Do tell us!

The treasure hunt was really exciting and interesting. One could understand more about our own Mylapore. Well spent Sunday morning!
It was a good suggestion to reduce the duaration of the event to 2 hours, which prevented the participants from roaming under the scorching sun and busy traffic. (helped in fuel conservation too)
We got little confused when leaving from the Raga Research Institute to the Kuchipudi Art Academy, as the clue was little mis-leading. But our team was able to crack all the 17 locations. Probably 2 of them may not be as precise as expected.
Congratulations to the organizers and thanks to the sponsors for conducting an impressive event!

We visited the following places for the first time:-
1. Alladi Krishnaswamys' House - Ekamra Nivas near Nageshwararao Park.
2. Kaladiksha - School of Bharatanatyam - residence of former CM Bakthavachalam at Warren Road.
3. Adyar Poonga on Greenways Road.
Our dry-run yesterday helped us to quickly identify the other places and navigate.

This is the very first time I took part at the mylapore hunt with my friend, Kaviya and her brother, Kashyap... It was TREMENDOUS fun and we loved exploring the entire geography of Mylapore and San Thome. The clues were tricky, but we were trickier!! We loved cracking each and every clue and the exhilaration we had after getting every answer was... Goddd... Simply too good to explain. We hope to take part in this event every year from now on and We are sure that this event will see more number of participants in the years to come... Long live Mylapore and Long live its glory!!!
Like everyone says, the hunt was fantastic... but it could have been more fun if we had to crack, decode, break our heads in solving clues rather than just clues taking us to a location...more of a puzzle or a jigsaw or a mind bender in a clue which on solving wud lead us to the location... that wud have been the perfect treasure hunt...
a few things were quite challenging in this treasure hunt too....
locating SRI SANKARA GURUKULAM, gosh we got that one exactly at9:10, the last clue which we solved...
We never followed the route or the plan, we went to bizarre locations but eventually we managed to crack all of them (hopefully right)... To that eco conservation project clue... we went to tamil nadu fisheries conservation project board(opposite to the crime records bureau) and i spent around 20 to 25 minutes at the information centre there before going to adyar poonga... lol
we were the first to reach lady of light church for the "church were st thomas restd" clue... we went and asked a Pastor or Father who was standing there... he had no idea of such a thing and he told this is defenitely not that church... after finishing all other clues we came bak to the same church and met the same person again lol... eventually we found out lol...
After that person told us that its defenitely not this church we went and checked the following churches,
rosary church
san thome church
lazarus church
prayer tower
st lukes church
sunday morning morning so many churches i think i cud ve earned a place in heaven...
the treasure hunt simply rocked

I guess many team might have cracked all the 17 locations including the tie questions.
I am wondering how you plan to decide the winners, since you are not considering 'time' as a factor.
